Gaynor Arnold is a novelist and short story writer. Her debut novel, Girl in a Blue Dress was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2008 and the Orange Prize for Fiction (now the Bailey’s) in 2009 and was published and translated around the world. She has since brought out a collection of short stories, Lying Together (long-listed for the Edge Hill Prize) and a well-received second novel, After Such Kindness.
Gaynor has appeared at literary festivals across the UK including Hay and Edinburgh, as well as in the national and international media e.g. Woman’s Hour, Broadcasting House, CBC, Reuters, the Huffington Post, Horizon Online and all the national broadsheets. She won a Coventry Book Inspiration Award in 2013 and the same year she co-edited an anthology of short stories, The Sea in Birmingham. She has been a speaker at creative writing courses all over the country and more book groups than she can shake a stick at. She is currently finishing her third novel.
